The name Soca Warriors® was officially coined in 1998 by Selwyn Melville, a cultural visionary and media producer who sought to unite the fiery passion of Trinidad and Tobago’s football spirit with
the infectious energy of its soca music. Melville recognized the power of this identity and moved to formalize it—securing legal ownership of the Soca Warriors® trademark. When the national team made its historic debut on the world stage in Germany in 2006, the phrase became the heartbeat of a people, echoing through stadiums, streets, and diaspora communities worldwide. Today, Soca Warriors® remains a proudly owned Caribbean brand, carrying forward a legacy that blends sport, culture, and national pride. This brand extension is managed and produced by Nasama Enterprises Company Limited, the official rights holder and imaging company behind the Soca Warriors® movement.
